How to Make a Cucumber Pipe

Estimated 3-minute read

Mix up your cannabis smoking routine with this multifaceted fruit. Although cucumber is usually considered a vegetable because of its use in the culinary world, it's botanically a fruit, as it grows from flowers and contains seeds.

To make this makeshift a functioning pipe, all you need is a little creativity and a quick visit to your local grocery store. It is easy and cheap, with the cucumber adding a refreshing touch to your smoke. The key to success is rigidity and airflow.

Regardless of your current situation, turning a fruit or vegetable into a pipe is always an excellent solution. Here’s the science behind how to make a cucumber pipe.

How to Make a Cucumber Pipe

Materials

  • A sharp knife
  • A long, firm cucumber
  • A chopstick
  • Ground weed

Directions

Step 1

Start by snipping off one end of the cucumber and push the chopstick into the center to create a long chamber through which the smoke will travel from the bowl to your lungs. If you’re missing the chopstick, you can always use a pencil.

Carefully press it until it extends about three-fourths into the cucumber. Don’t push the chopstick too hard; otherwise, you’re going to trespass the cucumber all the way through, and the smoke will float out the back end of your soon-to-be pipe.

Proceed to run the chopstick back and forth a few times, twisting as you go, trying to widen the chamber a bit.

Last, try to clean out as much of the cucumber guts as you can, taking care of the possible obstacles to clear the smoke’s pathway so it can flow freely and smoothly.

Step 2

Focus on the cucumber's end side that you've just snipped. Use your knife this time to sculpt it into a mouthpiece, carving it down until it fits your lips perfectly.

Step 3

To sculpt a bowl into the cucumber, place it horizontally on a cutting board or table. Then, use your knife to carefully dig a hole down right above the end of the chamber we previously made, about three-quarters of the cucumber’s way down.

Feel free to use a potato peeler or spoon to carve it down until the hole meets up with the pathway. Now, it is time to widen the cavity and hollow it out. Carve it out into a nice cone-shaped depression.

A great way to enhance these pipes and make them easier to smoke from is by placing a store-bought metal bowl.

Step 4

You are ready to go now; just pack your already ground bud into the bowl you just crafted. Hold the cucumber horizontally in your hand, put your lips on the mouthpiece, light it up, and pull in the smoke.

Once you’ve mastered this pipe, you can take things to a whole new level with these useful pieces of advice.

Frozen Cucumber

If your cucumber is too ripe, it can turn really mushy and watery on the inside. Besides, every pull will leave a wet and distinctly strong cucumber-tasting residue on the lips. When this happens, it turns all the smoking experience into messy trouble. Fortunately, there is an easy way to fix it while adding a nice cooling element to the mix.

Put the cucumber pipe into the freezer for a few minutes until it gets semi-frozen. This will make the entire thing less mushy, along with cooling the smoke, just like putting an ice catcher in a bong.

Pair your Cucumber Pipe with the Right Strain

Cucumber has a pleasant and fresh taste and aroma that perfectly complements a strong earthy-flavored strain. We suggest going with excellent strains choices such as:

  • Blue Dream
  • Sour Diesel
  • Green Crack
  • Jack Herer
