How Can Weed Improve Your Fitness Lifestyle

Estimated 3-minute read

Thanks to legalization and regulatory laws that make marijuana more accepted and used, new debates and topics of interest emerge daily. Today we will analyze a topic for fitness and wellness lovers as well as weed lovers. May sound nonsense and for more conservative people those are opposites, right? However, in my own experience the benefits are clear.

Reduces inflammation

Reducing muscle and joint inflammation is one of the most promising areas of cannabis research. Studies have found that CBD, the non-psychoactive cannabinoid in marijuana, helps relieve inflammation. Now, researchers are investigating its potential to treat autoimmune diseases such as Crohn's disease, lupus, and psoriasis.

Works as a pain reliever

Going hand in hand with its anti-inflammatory properties, cannabis has also been found to relief pain. This is an area of cannabis research that has shown many positive results. Marijuana can ease pain caused by everything from chronic pain to acute pain from muscle spasms. Studies have found, and that's good news for those looking for alternatives too dangerous, addictive opioids.

Improving your sleep

It's no secret that THC induces sleep, but studies have also found that it can help people with sleep apnea and even suppress dreams, which is beneficial for post-traumatic stress disorder sufferers.

Meanwhile, CBD can alleviate REM sleep disorder (where people act out of their dreams) and daytime fatigue. Everyone knows how important sleep is for overall fitness, so it can be extremely beneficial for your athletic performance.

Sleep is as important as exercise and nutrition. It is when your muscle fibers recover and you grow. You know at least seven hours of sleep. No sleep, no muscle growth.

It's all about the attitude

The state of mind or attitude is very important when exercising, Marijuana will not automatically make you a professional athlete. Its potential lies in increasing the enjoyment of exercise, and the evidence suggest that this enjoyment will make you more likely to exercise. When you look at your gym shoes, you will remember your last experience. If it was positive and you enjoyed it, you are more likely to do it again.

Similarly, people who suffer from anxiety can overcome public activities like the gym by smoking before training. Concentration increases and being in the moment is easier. Dispersion disappears along its negative effects.

Just smoke it

My favorite pre-workout? A fat, nice-rolled joint. Besides the biological and functional effects that weed gives to your body, let's get more practical. What is it like to go to the gym? Shortly before getting in, I smoke. I arrive, greet, and begin to warm up. If I was feeling lazy or tired as soon as I warm up, the euphoria and rush makes me want to lift heavy. I feel full of energy, and fresh ready to start.

As I start training, I see an automatic improvement in my technique. I do simple changes nobody tells me, I think I just listen better to my body, I feel it, so I do it. I improve my grip, block in optimal ways my elbows, knees, and shoulders. Immediately the sensation of improvement and progress are evident.

I feel a super clear mind-muscle connection. Therefore, I feel a specific stimulus for the muscle that I'm working. You know, right after finishing a set you feel if you did it optimally or if you cheated by leaning on other muscles indirectly. Obviously, you need some practice, however high I can isolate much easily the tension and force in each muscle that I'm looking to exercise.

Marijuana does not compare to any pre-workout. It will never be like taking creatine or nitric oxide. However, I prefer to smoke weed. And although it is not stimulating performance, I feel more concentrated and therefore I can lift heavier. I now understand Popeye.

Of course, marijuana is smoke. And the lungs are not designed to consume any type of smoke. Anyway, the harm of marijuana goes almost unnoticed. However, skeptics might tell you that the dangers range from lung damage to heart problems. But of something we are going to die someday. Listen to your body, don't abuse it, drink a lot of water, eat a lot of protein, and sleep a lot. Following this, marijuana would be the least important one of your problems.
