Grinders comes in a lot of different forms, sizes, and materials. From the most simple ones to the latest weed grinding technology, there are a lot of options currently available on the market.

Unfortunately, there will be times when you won’t have your reliable grinder on hand. In this article, we have gathered some of the most used and simple options on which you can grind your weed buds with ordinary objects that you may have around your house.

Best Way to Grind Weed Without a Grinder

Of course the ideal thing to do is grind your weed with a proper grinder, since another object simply won’t deliver the same results as a tool especially made for your buds. Nevertheless, if you are in a hurry and really need to grind weed without a grinder, there are some alternatives you can use.

Chop board and knife:

Probably the simplest homemade way to grind your herb with items you are almost guaranteed to have around the kitchen. To grind your herb this way, place the nugs you want to grind on the cutting board and chop it away with the knife into little pieces. Of course, the consistency won’t be the same as that of a quality grinder, but it will work.

Shot glass and scissors:

This technique is one of the simplest techniques to grind weed without a grinder. Look for a dry shot glass and throw your weed in it. Then, use clean small nail scissors or any small scissors and cut it away inside the shot glass. Keep cutting until you are satisfied with the way it looks. Once you finish cutting, pack your bowl or roll your joint.

Cheese grater:

Grinding weed using a cheese grater is not only effective, but the technique has been adopted in a certain way by brands that produce what are effectively mini cheese graters, but marketed specifically for cannabis users. The process of using a cheese grater as a weed grinder is actually really simple. You just have to grate your nugs as if they were cheese. The effectiveness of this technique will depend both on the size of your nugand how dry it is.

Pepper grinder:

Learning how to use a pepper grinder as a weed grinder is easy. Moreover, this can be a quick alternative to a store bought grinder that might already be sitting in your kitchen cabinet. First of all, make sure that the container is completely empty of pepper. Then, fill up the pepper container with some of your weed, grinding out the quantity you want to smoke. You can either leave the rest of it inside the container or grind out the quantity you want to use for later.

Coffee grinder:

This technique is very popular among smokers since its results are the most similar to those of a weed grinder. Start by throwing all your dense cannabis buds into the coffee grinder and start grinding. Be careful, though, since it can easily turn your weed into dust.

Pill bottle and nickel:

Put some weed into an empty plastic pill bottle, drop a nickel into it, then close it and shake vigorously. The nickel will crash against your cannabis nug, breaking off little pieces of flower until they have been completely chopped up. The weed will come out looking nicely ground. The disadvantage of this technique is that your nug needs to be balanced; not too dry and not too moist.
