How to Maintain Your Vape Kit in Optimal Condition?

Estimated 4-minute read

Vaping offers many significant advantages over smoking tobacco, including reduced inhalation of carcinogens, no lingering cigarette smell, or even better control over your nicotine intake. However, to truly take advantage of your vape kit, you need to know how to properly maintain it.

The reality is that even the best vape will still suffer wear and tear from continuous use. You have to know how to take care of your e-cigarette if you want it to last longer and get the best possible vaping experience.

Below, we’ve listed some of the most important tips for making sure your e-cigarette won't let you down. Read on and learn how to maintain your vape kit in optimal condition!

Replace Worn Components With Spare Parts

An important part of maintaining your e-cigarette is replacing some of the components with brand-new ones when necessary. However, to do so, you need to have access to replacement parts.

If you bought your e-cig from a vape shop offering its own ingenious vape designs, finding replacement parts should be easy. All you have to do is to visit the store in question and look for spare parts for your e-cigarette model.

However, if you’re using a second-hand model that is no longer being manufactured, things can get complicated. In that case, you might need to look much deeper for OEM spare parts and hope someone is selling them.

Perhaps someone in China is manufacturing replacement components for your old vape kit and offering them on sites like Aliexpress? Maybe there's an auction on eBay or another online marketplace?

Making sure you have access to spare parts before you need them will ensure you're never left without your e-cig.

Keep Your E-Cig Topped

Making sure there's always enough vape juice in your electronic cigarette is a good way to reduce your maintenance costs. The reason for that is simple - if there is not enough e-juice in your atomizer, your coil will burn out faster, and you'll need to replace it sooner.

To make sure you don’t needlessly waste money on replacement coils, simply keep your e-cig topped off with vape juice at all times. That way, the coil will always be well soaked, which will reduce the risk of dry burns and keep the heating element in optimal condition for longer.

Regularly Clean Your Battery Compartment

You might not realize it at first, but your battery compartment will get dirty over time. Most of the time, that dirt is just the residue from the vape juice, but it can also be dust or foreign particles that have found their way into your e-cigarette.

If you don’t keep the battery compartment tidy, that grime can interfere with the connection between the battery and the atomizer. In extreme cases, this might lead to a short circuit, which could be dangerous for both you and your device. As such, make sure to keep the battery connections clean and free of corrosion to ensure optimal performance.

You don't need specialized equipment to clean your battery compartment - a simple, clean cloth will do the job perfectly. Just remember to clean the compartment on a regular basis to maximize the lifespan of your vape kit.

Prime Your Coils

As vaping coils can be quite expensive, you might want to avoid changing them as often as possible. To make sure your coils last as long as possible, you need to prime them correctly before use. Priming your coils is not particularly complicated, and it only takes a couple of minutes, but the difference might be noticeable.

To prime your coils, first, you need to put a few drops of vape juice on the wicking holes of your atomizer coil. You should continue until the vape juice no longer disappears instantly into the holes. You might also want to add a few drops to the center of your coil.

Once that's done, close your tank and fill it with your e-liquid. Then, leave it for 10 or so minutes to allow the vape juice to soak in and reach the coil.

Finally, take a few draws without firing your vape pen to make sure the coil is evenly saturated. After that, your coil is ready to use!

Besides extending the life of your coils, priming is also a good way to reduce the likelihood of dry hits. As such, it's an important step in both optimizing your vaping experience and minimizing your maintenance costs.

Avoid Overtightening Your Tank

When installing your tank, you should choose a comfortable tightness to be sure it doesn't leak or come loose. While you may be tempted to overtighten the tank, that's not advisable.

Overtightening your tank can damage the O-rings and increase the chance of leaks. In addition, it makes removing the tank more difficult, which can lead to unnecessary wear and tear while maintaining your vape.

So...

Maintaining your vape is not particularly complicated or time-consuming. Priming your coils and keeping the tank topped off with vape juice are good ways to somewhat reduce the wear and tear on your heating element.

Keeping your battery compartment clean will help you avoid short circuits while avoiding overtightening the tank will reduce the risk of leaks or issues with unscrewing components.

Finally, make sure to have access to spare parts for your e-cigarette model. That way, you won't be left high and dry if something on your kit finally breaks.

By following the tips above, you'll be able to maximize the lifespan of your electronic cigarette.
